VOTE In Your State Primaries And The National Election Later This Year!

The right to vote is one of our most cherished, and voting is one of the most significant ways you have to represent your issues and values to your state legislators and the United States government. We recognize that women had to continue to fight for this right even after all other U.S. citizens had achieved it, and this even required a Constitutional amendment. You serve or served in order to protect all our rights. The fight to preserve our constitutional rights and to maintain the military and veterans benefits we earned does not stop; we need to continue to make ourselves heard.

Registration and voting are state based. If you are active duty or a family member outside your state, go to your base or unit voting officer, the USO, or other organizations like the nonpartisan League of Women Voters. Many organizations can help you determine your state of residence for registration and voting. If you are a Veteran, you can contact your state voting offices, the VA, the USO, or one of the veterans’ service organizations (VFW, DAV, IAVA, MOAA, etc.) to get help. Remember to start the registration process now because your paperwork for some states and all voting needs to be signed and sent by mail. It will take time to get ballots. Encourage your friends and family to vote too!

What We Do

The Service Women’s Action Network (SWAN) is the voice of women who have served or are currently serving in the military. We are a member-driven network dedicated to advocating, connecting, and supporting for the individual and collective needs of service women; past, present, and future.

Through legislative advocacy and research, SWAN has played a major role in opening all military jobs to service women, holding sex offenders accountable in the military justice system, eliminating barriers to disability claims for those who have experienced military sexual trauma, and expanding access to a broad range of reproductive healthcare services for military women.

SWAN About Us.jpg

About Us

Today, there are over 350,000 service women and 2 million women veterans in the United States – the highest number ever in history. Their voices must be heard.

Women have served and fought in every conflict since the American Revolution. Despite their critical contributions to our national security, women continue to face barriers. These barriers exist both in the military and when they leave military service when accessing the VA benefits and services they have earned.
