Gender Equality

SWAN is dedicated to advocating for and assisting our servicewomen with issues related to achieving gender equality. With the number of women in service growing constantly it is more important than ever that our servicewomen are treated as equals both in the military and upon reentry into civilian life. Here you can find information on combat integration work, legal service providers for issues pertaining to gender equality, groups advocating for LGBT service members, and support services.

LGBTQ+

LGBT servicewomen and their loved ones often face difficulties in acquiring their deserved benefits or may have difficulty navigation complicated policy changes. This link will direct you towards services directly aimed at advocating for LGBT service people, and assisting individuals with their needs.

Combat Integration

One of SWAN’s core beliefs is in equal placement opportunity and occupational standards for women and men. SWAN actively works with policymakers in order to move the U.S. military towards this goal. Information on the current status of combat integration legislation can be found here.

Discrimination/Bias

Discrimination against servicewomen based on gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or any other reason is not to be tolerated. These resources can help servicewomen know their rights, find support, or acquire legal assistance for discrimination if needed.
